Phil Thornton

Experienced award-winning financial report writer and journalist. After a 10-year career at The Independent I am established as a freelance writer, consultant and journalist. I produce reports on issues such as finance, macroeconomics and world trade. I write news, interviews, analyses, and features for several publications.

Skills

Self-motivated experienced writer, able to work alone or in a team; excellent contacts across a range of subjects; calm under pressure; able to write swiftly and accurately to tight deadlines. I am able to process and draw conclusions from raw data. I have extensive experience of interviewing people.

I specialise in concerting the complex language used in business, economics and finance into plain English for a lay audience. Clients include newspapers and magazines and a wider range of companies, trade bodies and third sector organisations.
